There will be opportunities to learn about the Carnival culture, get practical with making the costumes and much more.

Personal Confidence Workshops in April 2015

Starting on the 22nd of April and until the 23rd April, LearnDirect Bristol will be running personal confidence workshops taking place over 2 days and starting at 1.30pm till 4.30pm.

National Apprenticeship Week 2015

This year, National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) will run from the 9th to 13th of March.

NAW is co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service and is designed to celebrate apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

NAW 2015 is about:

-Getting more small businesses to take on apprentices
-Promoting a wide range of apprenticeships on offer, including those at Higher level and within blue chip companies
-Celebrating apprenticeships and the level of success that learners can achieve

    International Women’s Day 2015 is on March 7th!

    International Women’s Day is on March 7th from 11am to 5pm and there is a diverse programme including a drama workshop with playback theatre group Breathing Fire, participate in a group weaving project to capture local women’s words and advice, join a puppet making workshop or participate in a sing-along with local voice coach Jules Olsen, Indoor static cycling challenge, Local poet Vanessa Kisuulen and much more.

    The day will focus on breaking barriers and building bridges, the opportunity to speed meet other like-minded women, Netwalking around the Docks plus the Breeze cycle ride – a cycle tour of Bristol women’s history.

    NYA launches “The Employability Support Programme”

    With support from Barclays, the National Youth Agency (NYA) is investing £1 million into the youth sector, delivering employability and life skills training for up to 100,000 disadvantaged young people aged 14-25 between January and December 2015.

    “The Employability Support Programme” is part of Barclays ‘5 Million Young Futures’ commitment, providing the next generation with the skills they need to support themselves, creating a ripple effect for their families and their local communities.

    It will enhance existing projects already working with the above-mentioned target group of young people.

    ‘Generation 2015’ project

    The BBC is on the look-out for 18- to-24 year young to be part of its ‘Generation 2015’ project.

    “Generation 2015” is a cohort of 200 young people, drawn from across UK communities, who will be invited to contribute to BBC output in the run-up to the General Election.

    Those selected to take part could find themselves quizzing party leaders or speaking about their lives to Newsbeat, Newsnight, the Jeremy Vine Show or the Asian Network.

    the BBC aspire for this group to be a broad and representative cohort of UK 18- to 24 year olds, drawn from all UK communities and cultures.

    Applicants do not need to be steeped in politics or have decided how they will vote.
    They DO need to have a bit of spark and to have something to say for themselves.

    The deadline for applicants is quite tight – Completed application forms need to be returned by midnight on Monday 2nd Feb.
