Who is social housing for? – proposed changes to Bristol’s Housing Allocation Scheme

Overview

There are currently more than 14,000 applicants on the Bristol Housing Register. Bristol City Council is currently reviewing how they and partner landlords allocate social housing in Bristol through its Social Housing Allocation Policy. The review takes into account new freedoms in the Localism Act 2011, the housing stock and the changing demands on it. With these new powers in mind we are proposing to make some changes to the rules that govern who can and cannot join the housing register and the prioritisation of applicants within the register.
